Active Rail Technology

Rail Technology. Engineered Intelligence.

Founded in Brazil. Deployed across four continents. Built in one of the world’s most complex freight rail environments — and proven in mission-critical operations from America to Africa and Oceania.

Built from Operations.
Deployed at Scale

Active Rail Technology was founded by engineers and operators with direct experience in freight rail dispatch, train control, and onboard systems. We built our first systems inside one of the world’s largest and most operationally complex rail networks — where dark territory, aging infrastructure, and mixed fleets are the norm, not the exception.
That environment shaped everything: our engineering assumptions, our deployment methodology, and our definition of what mission-critical actually means.
Today, ART operates across 20+ countries, supporting daily rail operations where safety, efficiency, and financial performance are measured every shift.

Closing the Loop
Between Operations
and EBITDA

Operational excellence and financial performance are not separate conversations. ART bridges strategic network planning and day-to-day execution, ensuring that improvements in throughput, cycle time, and asset productivity translate into measurable economic impact. By aligning engineering discipline with operational intelligence, we enable rail operators to improve performance without compromising safety or predictability.

Engineering Discipline.
Measurable Intelligence.

Engineering-first reliability, enhanced by intelligence, deployed progressively and measured by results.

Reliability before optimization

We build on proven engineering foundations. Intelligence is layered on top: mission-critical stability remains the baseline.

Pragmatic  intelligence. Designed for real operations

Built around real railway workflows, constraints, and decision-making environments.

Progressive  deployment

Adopt what fits, when it fits. Value delivered in months, not years. Each phase building on proven results.

Measured outcomes, not feature accumulation

We track operational outcomes and close the loop: signal → decision → action → result.

Safety is non-negotiable. Every improvement must preserve safe, predictable operations.

Engineered for the Reality
of Rail Operations

Mission-critical railways do not operate under ideal conditions. They operate under variability, constraint, and consequence. At ART, engineering begins with operational reality — not theoretical models. We design systems that perform under traffic variability, human factors, weather impact, infrastructure limitations, and regulatory constraints. Because in real rail networks, small deviations cascade quickly, and reliability is the true measure of capacity. Our approach is grounded in three principles:

01

Operational variability is the baseline — not the exception

Rail networks are dynamic systems. Traffic patterns shift, crews rotate, and disruptions occur. Our engineering accounts for variability as a permanent condition, not a rare event.

02

Reliability is earned daily

In safety-critical environments, downtime is not an inconvenience — it carries operational, financial, and reputational consequences. Our systems are built to preserve safe and predictable operations at all times.

03

Change must coexist with legacy systems

Railways cannot pause to upgrade. New capabilities must integrate with existing infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and operational workflows — without destabilizing the network.

Built for mission-critical
rail operations

Disciplined engineering. Repeatable execution. Long-term reliability at scale.

Operational pedigree

Built on direct operational experience across dispatch, train control, and onboard environments — initially developed inside one of South America’s largest freight rail networks, and since expanded across operations in 3 continents.

Quality management (ISO-driven processes)

ART operates under a quality-first management system aligned with ISO 9001 practices, supporting consistent delivery, traceability, and continuous improvement across projects and regions.

Safety Integrity Level (SIL) engineering

ART supports safety-critical engineering aligned with SIL principles, including SIL 2 and SIL 4 contexts, applying disciplined verification and lifecycle practices as defined by each project’s safety scope.
